Solar Farms

Topographical Surveys – Eiredrone is very experienced in producing solar farm topographical surveys. To date, the largest solar farm we have provided a topographical survey for was 600 Acres. Other deliverables that we provide with our solar farm topographical surveys are digital terrain models, digital surface models, 2D orthomosaics, 3D point clouds, grid of points, water run-off analysis, and shadow analysis.

All surveys are layered and projected to ITM and Malin head datums unless otherwise specified by the client. The orthomosaic is added in AutoCAD as a layer under linework to improve visualization of entities.

Thermal Surveys – Using the latest in drone technology we can conduct fast and very efficient thermal inspections of solar panel arrays. Drone thermal surveys can track issues at cell level, module level, and string level. Common anomalies detected are hot spots, shadowing, shattering and soiling, tilt tracking, and reversed polarity.

Capturing both thermal and high resolution RGB data in tandem helps to rule out common pitfalls like mistaking soiling for a hot spot on a panel and wrongly diagnosing vegetation encroachment as a shattered panel.

Wind

Other deliverables that we provide with our wind farm topographical surveys are digital terrain models, digital surface models, 2D orthomosaics, 3D point clouds, grid of points, water run-off analysis, and shadow analysis.

Blade Inspections – Significantly reduce turbine downtime and site safety concerns using thermal payload equip drones. Detect cracks, fractures, and delamination using a combination of thermal, wide angle, and zoom images using up to 200x zoom capabilities.

Power Line

Key metrics in the successful implementation of a drone powerline inspection program is repeatability and safety. We use RTK drones with ultra-high resolution cameras to maintain a safe distance from high voltage powerlines while capturing the detail that matters. Flight automation ensures consistency and repeatability throughout an inspection campaign. We use a variety of drones and cameras to keep us flying whatever the weather.

Extensive flight planning and risk assessments are conducted before and flying takes place to keep us, our client, and the infrastructure safe.
